Honoring Marjorie Morrissey: A Legacy of Grace and Giving
Celebrating a Life of Impact, Inspiration, and Opportunities for Hartford’s Youth

A community comes together to celebrate a woman whose kindness, vision, and generosity continue to open doors for Hartford’s youth.
On Friday, October 3, 2025, we had the privilege of honoring someone whose presence lights up every room—known not for her stature, but for her grace, radiant smile, and an energy that brings people together. Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow supporters, Marjorie Morrissey was celebrated for her remarkable generosity and unwavering commitment to Hartford’s children.
The dedication of the Game Room at the Samuel S. Gray, Jr. Boys & Girls Club at Asylum Hill in Marjorie’s honor reflects her belief in the power of spaces where children can connect, grow, and thrive. Often the heart of the Club, the Game Room is where laughter echoes, friendships blossom, and young people build the skills and confidence that carry them far beyond these walls.
Reflecting on the evening, Tomeka Cole, Vice President of Development and Communications, shared:
“Tonight, we witnessed the power of community as we gathered to celebrate one of our pillars. From her family—like Tim Sullivan, a former Board of Trustees member—to our SMART Girls, Marge’s influence reaches across generations. Her legacy of love, joy, and opportunity continues to shape the future of our Clubs and our city.”
Marjorie’s philanthropy is more than a gift—it is a legacy. A legacy of opportunity, hope, and open doors for Hartford’s youth to step into brighter futures.
What a magnificent way to honor a woman who continues to inspire us all.
